I Am Alive, Governor Declares

El-Rufai

Contrary to the reports in some national dailies that Governor Nasir El-Rufai was critically ill and flown abroad, the governor yesterday made a public appearance in Kaduna declaring that he is hale and hearty.
Addressing Kaduna State chapter of Nigerian Labour Union (NLC), which staged a solidarity rally in support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti corruption crusade at Government House, El-Rufai said that those who wished him dead were enemies of the state.
“You can see me standing before you. I am not dead. The reason why they want me dead was because of the N24 billion I discovered in several accounts in the state.
“They want me dead but what they don’t know is that even if I am not here today my deputy will continue. They can go ahead with their fetish activities, I don’t care”, he said. El-Rufai thanked the workers for their support for the President, saying that he is happy to deliver their message to the President.
“We are messengers of the people, and will make sure that the letter gets to President Buhari Tomorrow (today)”, he promised. On his land recovery policy, the governor said “we want the state to be bet
ter; our policy on land recovery is still on course. Today I took a final look at Rimi College to see the situation there before we move in”.
El-Rufai also promised that workers in the state would get their salaries before Sallah which comes up later this month. Speaking through the Kaduna State NLC chairman, Comrade Adamu Ango, the NLC president, Ayuba Waba, said President Buhari and Governor El-Rufai are “trusted and tested” adding that the labour movement would support their policies aimed at turning the country and Kaduna State around.
“We support the man who is trusted and tested and we declare our support because we know you are up to the task”, he said. The rally, the workers said, was in commemoration of the national day against corruption and good governance, aimed at drawing attention to the endemic corruption in the country. According to Comrade Ango, there is need to seriously reduce the cost of governance in the country.
